Cheers and bon appétit!

Cold Bean Salad (Donka Capova - Mississauga, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 500 g beans
• 4 onions
• salt
• bay leaf
• a few stalks of spring onion
• a few cloves of garlic
• oil
• vinegar
• a sprig of mint

Potato Appetizer (Donka Capova - Mississauga, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 4 large potatoes
• salt
• butter
• black pepper
• 4 hard-boiled eggs

Preparation Method:

Cut the potatoes horizontally into two parts, hollow them out, place them in a greased baking pan, and bake in a preheated oven. Remove them from the oven, add butter to the hollowed center, and salt them. Place half a boiled egg inside, salt it, add black pepper and a little butter, and return them to the oven. You can also add grated yellow cheese over the egg, giving it a more spicy taste. Serve with sour cream and eat.

Bagels (Gevreci) (Kire Banishki - Toronto, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 1 kg flour
• 1 activated yeast
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 1 teaspoon sugar
• sesame seeds

Preparation Method:

Knead the flour, yeast, salt, and sugar with water to make a medium-soft dough, which is then divided into 12 equal parts. Shape one bagel from each part.
Boil one liter of water with three tablespoons of honey. Drop the bagels into the boiling water. As soon as they rise to the surface, take them out with a slotted spoon, roll them in plenty of sesame seeds, arrange them in a greased baking pan, and bake over higher heat until they turn golden brown.
We recommend eating them immediately with sheep cheese or apricot jam.
Cheers!

Savory Roll with Pate (Gordana Mishkovska-Koleva - Brampton, ON)

Here is a recipe that is prepared very quickly and easily, so even men can prepare it. It is also very tasty and looks interesting. I hope you will like it. Required ingredients:

Required Ingredients:

• 1 long French baguette (bread)
• 2 eggs
• 1 larger pate (100 g)
• 2-3 pickled cucumbers
• 2-3 small carrots

Preparation Method:

First, cut the ends off the bread. Set the ends aside as they are not used. Then cut the bread into 3 equal parts and use a knife to hollow it out, removing the soft middle so the 3 parts are left almost as just the crust.
Hard-boil the eggs. Blanch the carrots just until they soften. When cooked, finely chop the eggs, carrots, and cucumbers.
In a bowl, crumble the soft middle of the bread, and add the pate, carrots, eggs, and cucumbers. Mix everything well. Then, use a spoon to fill the bread crusts with the prepared mixture.
Wrap in cellophane and place in the refrigerator.
Before serving, cut into slices that look like circles.
Bon appétit.

Lasagna (with minced meat) (Dijana Veselinovska - Etobicoke, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 500 g lasagna sheets
• 500 g minced meat
• 400 g yellow cheese (kashkaval)
• 800 ml ketchup
• 150 g spaghetti sauce
• 2 large tablespoons oil
• 2 cloves of garlic
• 1 small teaspoon salt
• 1 small teaspoon sugar
• 1 teaspoon oregano
• a little paprika

Preparation Method:

First, prepare the meat sauce with all the ingredients in the following way:
Put the oil in a deeper pot, fry the minced meat, and add all the listed ingredients, mix well so it doesn't burn. The sauce should be thick, so when you pass the spoon on the bottom of the pot it leaves a trail, which is a sign that the sauce is ready.
Meanwhile, boil the lasagna sheets (in water, with a little oil and salt) until they soften for about 10-15 mins, then cool them in cold water.
In a 22x33 cm pan, first arrange the lasagna sheets, then a layer of sauce, grated yellow cheese, then again lasagna sheets, sauce, yellow cheese, and so on until the sauce and lasagna sheets are used up, and the last lasagna layer must be topped with sauce and yellow cheese.
Finally, cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes at 180C (or 350F).

Pirozhki (Dijana Veselinovska - Etobicoke, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 50 g yeast
• 1 tablespoon flour
• 2 egg yolks
• 50 g margarine
• 1 teaspoon salt
• half a liter of milk
• a little salt
• a little sugar

For the filling:
• 500 g grated yellow cheese (kashkaval)
• 500 g salami (mortadella) chopped into small cubes
• 500 g ketchup, or spaghetti sauce
(Optionally, you can add other things like: mushrooms, white cheese, olives, etc.)

Preparation Method:

Dissolve the yeast with 3 tablespoons of warm milk, a little salt, and a little sugar.
Beat two egg yolks with 1 teaspoon of sugar, add the activated yeast, the melted margarine, then add lukewarm milk and flour.
Stir the dough with a spoon until bubbles appear, then knead with your hands and leave it in a warm place to rise.
When everything is ready, pour the dough onto a flour-dusted table, knead it again, and roll it out with a rolling pin (about half a cm thick).
Cut the dough with a glass or pirozhki molds, and fill them with the filling.
Put 1 level large tablespoon of the filling (if you cut them with a glass, fold the dough to get a half-moon shape and press the edges with a fork).
Then fry them in hot oil (you need as much oil as for frying potatoes).
Fry them on both sides until golden brown, take them out, drain them from the oil, and serve as you prefer, warm or cold.

Vasa's Cake (Marija Banishka - Toronto, ON)

Required Ingredients:

• 9 eggs
• 13 tablespoons sugar
• 1 tablespoon flour
• 6 full tablespoons ground almonds (or walnuts)
• 125 ml milk
• 200 g ground walnuts
• 1 orange
• 100 g dark chocolate
• 250 g butter
• 250 g sugar

Preparation Method:

Beat 5 egg whites and add 5 full tablespoons of sugar. Then add 5 egg yolks one by one. Continue beating and finally add 1 tablespoon of flour and 6 full tablespoons of ground almonds or walnuts. Bake the dough on greased parchment paper in a pan (size 28).
Put 125 ml of milk with 4 tablespoons (of sugar) on the stove to boil. Then add 200 g of ground walnuts. Mix well, remove from the stove, and leave it to cool. Separately, beat 4 egg yolks with 4 tablespoons of sugar. Add the beaten egg yolks to the cooled walnuts, along with the grated peel and juice of one orange, and 100 g of melted dark chocolate. Separately beat 250 grams of butter and when it's ready, mix it with the walnuts and eggs. Spread this mixture over the cake.
Make a thick snow from the egg whites and add a thick syrup cooked from 250 grams of sugar and 2 cups of water. Spread this snow over all sides of the cake so it becomes completely white. Decorate the top using a piping bag.
When the cake is ready, it needs to sit in the refrigerator for a few hours.
And it's important to be careful to serve the guests small slices, so more is left for the hosts.
