Effective September 17, 2026.
Using this website
These terms apply when you use macedonianhistory.ca or create an account or membership with the Canadian Macedonian Heritage Society (“CMHS”, “we”, “us”). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not create an account or submit material.
The site documents Macedonian heritage and community life and provides educational, archival and membership services. It is not legal, financial, tax or professional advice.
Eligibility and authority
You must be able to enter into this agreement under the law where you live. If you use the site for an organisation, household or another person, you confirm that you are authorised to act for them. A parent or guardian is responsible for a minor’s account or submission. The website is operated from Ontario, Canada, but visitors remain responsible for following laws that apply to them.
Accounts
Provide accurate information, protect your password and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been misused. You are responsible for activity under your account. We may verify an email address, correct obvious errors, restrict abusive activity or suspend an account where reasonably necessary to protect members, records or the service.
Memberships and payments
Membership plans, prices, household limits and included benefits are shown at checkout and may change for future purchases or renewals. Online memberships are charged in Canadian dollars through Stripe as recurring annual subscriptions. A couple or family plan uses the household arrangement described at checkout and is not a licence to resell or transfer access.
Stripe processes payment-card information under its own terms. CMHS receives the identifiers and limited payment details needed to maintain the membership, reconcile payments and issue receipts; it does not store full card numbers.
You may manage the payment method and cancel future renewal through the Stripe customer portal linked from your account. Cancellation takes effect as shown in the portal and does not undo charges already completed. Requests for a refund of a paid membership are considered case by case. Nothing in these terms limits a refund or cancellation right that applicable law requires.
Unless cancelled before renewal, Stripe may charge the payment method on file for the next annual term. A failed or reversed payment may leave the membership pending, suspend member-only access or require us to correct an incorrectly issued receipt. We may contact you about the payment or membership status. A price or benefit change applies only as disclosed for a future purchase or renewal; it does not rewrite a completed transaction.
If a membership payment has a charitable eligible amount, the official CMHS receipt states that amount. The membership price and eligible amount are not necessarily the same. CanadaHelps donations are separate transactions, do not create or renew a membership, and are receipted by CanadaHelps. Consult your own adviser about tax treatment.
Business directory
The Canadian Macedonian Business Directory is an informational community resource assembled from public sources and submissions. A listing is not an endorsement, certification or guarantee by CMHS. Information may become incomplete or outdated. Tell us about a correction or removal at admin@macedonianhistory.ca; we may verify the request before changing a record.
Do not rely on a listing as a substitute for checking a business’s identity, qualifications, pricing, availability or insurance. Businesses are responsible for their own goods, services and representations. A person asking to control, correct or remove a listing may be asked to show their connection to the business, particularly where the requested change conflicts with reliable public sources or another authorised representative.
Your submissions
Only submit material you are entitled to share and do not submit unlawful, misleading, defamatory, private or infringing content. You retain ownership of your original material. By submitting it for publication, you give CMHS a non-exclusive, royalty-free permission to review, edit, translate, format, display and archive it for the Society’s charitable and historical work. We may decline, correct or remove a submission and cannot promise publication or permanent availability.
The permission continues for material already published or incorporated into an archival work, unless we agree to remove it or applicable law requires removal. You may still use and license your own original material elsewhere. If a submission identifies living people, contains personal correspondence, or includes material created by someone else, you are responsible for obtaining the permissions reasonably needed to share it. Contact us promptly about a privacy, copyright or attribution concern and identify the specific item involved.
Acceptable use
Do not interfere with the site, evade access controls, probe security, introduce harmful code, impersonate another person, send spam, misuse personal information, or use automated means that place an unreasonable load on the service. Members-only material is for the member or household covered by the purchased plan and must not be republished or redistributed without permission.
Site content and outside services
Unless otherwise stated, CMHS or its contributors own or license the site design, text, images, recordings and other content. You may use public content for personal, educational and non-commercial purposes with attribution, subject to any rights or restrictions shown with the item. Other uses require permission.
The site links to or embeds services operated by others, including Stripe, CanadaHelps, Google and YouTube. Their services are governed by their own terms and privacy practices. CMHS is not responsible for an outside service’s content, availability or conduct.
Privacy and communications
Our Privacy Policy explains how account, directory, submission, analytics and payment-related information is handled. Service messages about verification, security, payments, receipts or account administration are part of operating the account and are different from an optional newsletter. You may unsubscribe from newsletters while still receiving messages that are reasonably necessary to complete a transaction, protect the account or answer a request.
Availability and responsibility
We work to keep the site useful, accurate and secure, but historical records may contain errors and the service may sometimes be unavailable. The site and its content are provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, CMHS is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from use of the site or reliance on its content. Nothing here excludes responsibility that cannot legally be excluded.
Ending access and changing these terms
You may ask us to close your account by emailing admin@macedonianhistory.ca. Account closure does not automatically reverse a completed payment and CMHS may retain limited records as described in the Privacy Policy. We may suspend access for a serious or repeated breach of these terms.
Where practical, we will give notice of a material change through the site, account or email before it affects an existing paid term. Continued use after revised terms take effect means that the revised terms apply to later use. If any provision cannot be enforced, the remaining provisions continue to apply.
These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario and Canada, without taking away mandatory rights that apply where you live. Before starting a formal dispute, please email admin@macedonianhistory.ca with enough detail for us to try to resolve it. Nothing in this paragraph prevents either party from seeking urgent relief or using a consumer, privacy or regulatory process that the law makes available.
