Steve Stavro's other passion ran on four legs. Knob Hill Stable, founded in 1967, campaigned more than eighty thoroughbreds, took a Sovereign Award with Benburb in 1992 and a Horse of the Year title with Thornfield in 1999, and carried Stavro into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in 2006, the year he died.
