Georgi Danevski — Iconography & Fine Art
Георги Даневски
Georgi Danevski trained in Skopje and Ljubljana, painted across Europe, and settled in Toronto in 1995, where the Macedonian community's two great sanctuaries became his canvases: the fresco cycles of St Clement of Ohrid Cathedral and a six-hundred-square-metre programme of more than a thousand icons at St Dimitrija Solunski in Markham, completed in 2010.
His portrait commissions run from Frank Stronach to Moses Znaimer, the Vatican's San Paolo Film has documented his icon work, and his paintings have hung in the Parliament of Canada — a working studio practice that doubles as the community's visual memory.
